Staff Team

Paul Lynch has been at King’s since 2003. He is a graduate from Moorlands College having been called into ministry from his job as a fire-fighter in 1983. Paul oversees the staff and the Eldership team.

Children & Families Pastor


Lizzie Williams has been the Children & Families Pastor since 2013.  She graduated from Moorlands College in 2003 and is passionate about seeing families involved in church.  She is married to Tim and has two children, Isaac and Abigail.

Jane Thomas  is married to Paul and has three teenage children. Jane joined the staff team 4 years ago and has operational responsibility for what goes on here at Kings and our new building.

Bill Paterson squishes four part time roles into one job title! His main tasks in a nutshell are helping Derek with the running of the building, Robyn with Youthwork and in co-ordination with a band of invaluable volunteers running the Furniture Project and maintaining the grounds.

Peter Chilton has overall responsibility for all things technical in the church, including computers, audio, projection, TVs, cameras etc. His background is not in this field but he has been involved and interested since the church first acquired a microphone some 45 years ago.


Paul Thomas joined the Staff team at Kings over 6 years ago, after careers in Technology financing and Landscaping. Paul is passionate about building relationships and encouraging discipleship across the whole church both with each other and our heavenly Father.

Robyn Hughes  joined King’s in September 2015, having been a Youth Worker within the community since 2013. She has a degree in Criminology and Sociology and is known as the ‘overgrown teenager’ in the office – which she loves!

Derek Brown and his wife Elaine joined the church as newlyweds in 1978… and stayed! He runs a print and design company but since September 2014 has shared that role with that of facilities co-ordinator here at Kings.


atienza edit copyJeanette Atienza and her family have been members at King’s for many years. It is her responsibility to keep the church looking spick and span and she can often be heard singing in the hallways as she cleans.

Communications & Projects

Jenny  Benjamin has been a member of King’s since 1992 and part of the team since 2015, having previously worked locally as a TA and, before having a family, in retail management. She loves planning and organising things and playing with spreadsheets.


The word ‘elder’ is a term the Bible uses, along with other words like ‘pastor’ or ‘shepherd’, to refer to those to whom God gives the responsibility of leading and teaching the church.

Julian moved to Amersham 30 years ago straight from university to join the church and has been an Elder for half of that time. He met his wife Pauline here, and they have three teenage children. He works locally as an accountant, but his heart is for the church, and in particular for preaching the truth and for sound doctrine, for worship, and just occasionally church finances.

Ian has a passion for helping people, especially young people, develop their calling and potential. He is heavily involved in youth work and as an elder looking at the big picture and strategic thinking. Ian is on sabbatical until May 2016.

Richard oversees worship for the eldership, together with Paul Thomas. He is passionate about Spirit led worship, with 20 years experience of worship leading within the King’s Churches. Also committed to helping develop and maintain healthy marriages within the church, he organises marriage enrichment courses with his lovely wife Jane.

Neil and his wife Judith joined King’s in 1984.  Their service to the church has encompassed a wide range of ministries, notably leading Focus Groups and providing pastoral care to Group Leaders. Neil chairs Eldership Meetings and is committed to the development of future leaders. He views the role of the Elder as having four complementary parts – providing spiritual oversight, charting direction, teaching and preaching, and praying for the sick.

Paul has been a church member since joining the team in 2003. He has previously led churches in Bournemouth and Barnstaple and has 30 years’ experience in church leadership.
